Craftsmanship Rubric

Craftsmanship Rubric This is the Craftsmanship Rubric I post at both of my schools.
You are welcome to copy it, but I suggest coming up with your own words on the written side. I know I have to edit what I have on there, it's too long...

  1. Hi!
Catching you from AOE- just curious, do you have one for each project? Are the examples student- made?

  2. Nice hearing from you Ingrid! I hope you're having a creative year.
I wrote a little bit about the Craftsmanship Rubric in my "Bulletin Board" post. The idea came to me several years ago when I kept having students ask me "Is this good enough?" I knew they weren't trying to get out of trying hard, they really didn't know what I was looking for in craftsmanship. The pics are ones I drew. The "2" pic really shows a lot of little problems I kept seeing in student work. It's really a matter of slowing down and adding detail that gets you to a "3" grade. Seeing it on the wall really helps everyone work slower and more thoughtful on their work. I chose to draw the work myself because I wanted it neutral; I didn't want anyone thinking their work would end up on the art room wall someday posted as the "1"
or "2" example. I tell the students they are pictures I drew.
